Presented is a circa 1930s New York Yankees game-worn hat from backup catcher Joe “Gabby” Glenn. Being that the backstop played for the “Bronx Bombers” from 1932-1938, this authentic uniform apparel dates to that time. This wool artifact has survived the decades quite well, with a clean top bill, green under bill, and mostly white team logo. The leather underlining reveals a stitched notation of Glenn’s hat size as 7 1/8 while his name is stitched into the interior and spans approximately 2-3/4". The yellow threading which secures the off-white Spalding trademark tag is mostly intact, while a portion of the leather underlining is moderately frayed. The inner body of the cap shows soiling, sweat residue, and other evidence of game usage. This unique uniform relic is perfect for historians of the early Yankees dynasties.
