Description

Edward Throwbridge (Cocky) Collins, 25-year major league veteran and 1939 Hall of Fame inductee, is the focus of this circa 1917-1921 full-size Louisville Slugger decal bat. Placed squarely on the barrel of the bat is a chipped but discernable decal of the second bagger. This antique lumber has approximate dimensions of 32 oz./34.25” and reveals moderate to extensive wear throughout including nicks, abrasions and contusions ranging from the handle through the barrel. The bat features a Louisville Slugger 40EC center brand, and the decal, while worn, is still quite attractive. Measuring nearly 6” across and 4” top-to-bottom, the caption of Collins is remarkably similar to the pose used for his 1909-1911 T206 card. Surrounding Collins' image is the trademark phrase “Used the Louisville Slugger Bat”. Directly beneath “Cocky” is a weathered but readable facsimile autograph. This display piece is an important accompaniment to any pre-war memorabilia gathering.
