The original card of reigning 1952 AL MVP Bobby Shantz is found in this scarce 1953 Red Man sealed tobacco pack. This “20 cent” pouch is sealed by the period tax stamp and is enveloped by a wafer-thin piece of cellophane. The left side of the cellophane is loose, partially torn and is no longer covering that portion of the soft-pack. On the reverse of the package is the grimacing image of ace Bobby Shantz. The surface of the card is wavy due to the tobacco drying out and being reconstituted with the package. Otherwise, AL #20 Shantz grades in the (NM) range with sharp corners and a vibrant registration. Unopened baseball material from the 1950s is in perpetual demand, so don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity.
