Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in 1926, the woman known to millions as Marilyn Monroe quickly became the All-American darling that mesmerized fans since her first appearance on the silver screen in 1947. Presented is a beautifully signed vintage check penned by Monroe in the lower right portion. Bank checks provide an ideal form of an authentic signature for legendary stars. Many years ago a very limited number of checks surfaced from Monroe's estate, and this modest hoard was quickly snatched up by collectors. The check, drawn on Colonial Trust Company, is made out to Hazel Washington in the amount of $85.30 and is beautifully signed "Marilyn Monroe" in blue ink ("9"). The check is from Marilyn Monroe Productions, Inc., which was formed in the mid-1950s by Monroe and photographer Milton Greene. The check, dated February 5, 1960, is in excellent condition and grades an (8). Coupled with the high-grade blue signature, this check is a phenomenal find. COA from James Spence Authentications.
