Offered is a grouping featuring five, scarce single-signed boxing photographs from the Donald Smith Collection. A member of the World Boxing Historian’s Association since 1964, as denoted on the Hank Kaplan signed Certificate pictured on our website, Smith had these elusive signed photographs personalized to himself with inscriptions of various lengths. The signed 8x10 black and white photographs include James J. Braddock (d.1974, “7”, To A Swell Fellow, Best Wishes), John Henry Lewis (d.1974, “6”, All the best, 9/19/71), Mushy Callahan (d.1986, “9”, With Best Wishes), Manuel Ortiz (d.1970, “8”, Best Wishes, Always your friend) and Frankie Neil (d.1970, “9”, To My Friend, July 2, 1967). The Braddock and Lewis examples are accompanied by full LOAs from PSA/DNA, while the remaining three feature PSA/DNA COAs with matching numbered stickers. The WBHA Certificate is not part of the lot, though a copy of said Certificate is included with the lot.
