Located at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, CA, Joe DiMaggio’s Restaurant was a bay-area fixture for decades. In the mid-1980s the establishment closed it’s doors for the final time, and the DiMaggio’s jerseys, used by a semi-pro league sponsored by Joey’s place, ceased to be produced. The presented example, produced by Stroh’s of San Francisco, was used by an unidentified member of this squad during the late 1960s, as is referenced on the letter of authenticity marking the previous ownership of Chick Piereitti (former Senators pitcher and coach of the DiMaggio’s squad). The wool, button-down, size large jersey displays moderate toning and minor trim wear, though use is very light. The team lettering and (#9) numbering on either side are double-twill stitched, displaying a bold red and blue pattern. Penned by DiMaggio (d.1999, “8-9” given the surface) on the right breast in black sharpie and accompanied by a COA from James Spence Authentications as well as a letter of provenance, this lovely semi-pro used jersey will beautifully adorn any autograph or jersey collection.
