From 1918 to 1934 John Arnold Heydler presided over the National League, helping to establish the Baseball Hall of Fame and conceiving of the designated hitter along the way. Presented is a beautiful Heydler Official National League baseball from the mid-1920s, still in the box with the original seal intact. The cushioned-cork center baseball, as pictured on the box, displays multi-colored stitching and a 1925 patent date, as well as Spalding and Heydler stampings. While one panel of the seal shows a 1/2-inch tear, the box and relic as a whole shows relatively little wear and has survived exceptionally well given its age, scarcity and sensitive nature.
