Presented is a beautiful Official National League baseball dating back to the early portions of the 20th century. Baseball was transitioning during this time, slowly drifting away from the dead-ball era as John Heydler began his tenure as National League President. After a few years into his reign, which began in 1918, the signature of the President was stamped on the baseballs. The lack of Presidential signature on this baseball dates it to the late-Teens transition period, though the leather has generally held up very well barring a couple of isolated areas displaying varying degrees of hide-toning. The multi-colored stitching remains tight and colorful, and all of the official stampings are bold and clearly legible. The seldom seen original box is included with no obtrusive stains or torn flaps. While the seal is only present on one side, the scarce box has survived incredible well given its age and opened nature. Displaying an early patent date of 1909, this nearly 100-year old baseball will turn heads for generations to come.
