Among the toughest of the difficult regional relics from the late 1940s is the 1948 Gentle’s Bread Boston Braves issue. Originally used as an end label for a loaf of bread, this waxed-paper baseball artifact is now a prized collectible. Earl Torgeson is one of only nine players represented in this set, all of whom were members of the 1948 Boston Braves NL Championship team. This card measures 3 x 8-1/2” and grades VG-EX with only light creasing, which is extremely common for an item of this kind. The image of Torgeson is clean, and there are no tears or extraneous paper attached. Examples from this series are seldom seen on the open market, especially one is this condition so do not miss this opportunity.
