The Twins initial season in the American League was not a resounding success, but it was enough to galvanize the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul around their new baseball club. Capitalizing on these popular newcomers, the Peters Meats Company issued this set featuring (26) of the Minnesota Twins. Presented is a complete set of 1961 Peters Meats Minnesota Twins set in complete box form. This tough regional issue can be found on the market but almost never in complete box form as a complete set. Each of the twenty-six boxes includes the baseball player’s card, cooking instructions and both top and bottom tabs. Key cards include #1 Versalles (VG-EX), #7 Kaat (EX-MT), #12 Valo (EX), #18 Killebrew (EX-MT) and #23 Battey (VG-EX). The remaining cards include (4) EX-MT, (10) EX, (6) VG-EX and (1) VG. With a heavy wax coating protecting the surface, the flaws in the cards are mostly limited to depressions in the wax but not creasing or staining. There is some light creasing on the extremities of the skinless wieners boxes, but the cards themselves are high grade. The backs of these hot dog boxes are blank.
