Depicting William Boyd as the lovable Hopalong Cassidy, this 1950 series follows the cowboy hero through several adventures. The presented lot features (179/230) cards for the set, as well as a duplicate #29 (VG-EX). The missing cards include the #187-230 run, as well as #106-108, #120, #123, #130 and #157. The highlights of the lot are the Hoppy’s Holiday and False Paradise adventures (#s 48-95) which are the nicest of the lot in solid mid-grade condition with many EX-MT specimens to be found. The adventurers following this run, consisting of #s 96-186 feature occasional upper-middle grade cards as well, though these have an aggregate grade of (VG) to (VG-EX). While the first two stories (#s 1-47) do show a consistent stain near the upper-right corners, they remain aesthetically solid and otherwise in condition similar to the lot as a whole. So hop on Topper and ride along with Hoppy.
