The 1938 edition of the New York Yankees rode the pitching success of Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing along with the slugging prowess of Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig to win their seventh World Series title. The pinstripers fielded a team comprised of five Hall of Famers including skipper Joe McCarthy. This New York Yankees team-signed baseball from that campaign contains (29) signatures on a period OAL Harridge ball. Of the autographs, (21) are legible as the ball reveals extensive wear including multiple abrasions, contusions and soiling. Additionally, a wafer-thin coating of period lacquer covers the dark pennings. Endorsers include Sweet Spot: Powell (d.1948, 4), McCarthy (d.1978, 3); West Panel: Hadley (d.1963, 2), Glenn (d.1985, 2), Dickey (d.1993, 2); East Panel: Gomez (d.1989, 1), Knickerbocker (d.1963, 2), DiMaggio (d.1999, 2), Chandler (d.1990, 3), Andrews (d.1990, 3), W. Ferrell (d.1976, 4), Schulte (d.1978, 3), Selkirk (d.1987, 2), Gehrig (d.1941, 3); North Panel: Dahlgren (d.1996, 2), Murphy (d.1990, 2); South Panel: Ruffing (d.1986, 1), Pearson (d.1978, 2), Henrich (2), Gordon (d.1978, 4) and Rolfe (d.1963, 2). This historic ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
