Description

Offered is an original 1932 Type 1 wire photograph of the New York Yankee team lineup that was taken shortly after the squad secured the American League pennant. This dapper 8-1/2 x 6-1/2 news service picture is dated September 28, 1932 and is from International News Photos, Inc. The image is clean and clear, showing Ruth and Gehrig posing with their teammates in the second row. The gloss on the off-white bottom border edge has been slightly chipped, and a few minor gloss cracks are present throughout the picture. The corners exhibit some minor creasing and reveal slight to moderate wear. The reverse has the original information tag affixed and has been noted with editorial pencil markings. This attachment has partially detached at the folding crease and shows a thumbtack hole in the middle of the paper. The reverse also contains stamping from the wire company and press archive and has been numbered in blue pencil. Despite those several detractions, this original and intact piece is a very presentable relic from a legendary team.
