Description

Matted and framed to 25x31, the presented lot contains two unique Spohn limited edition 20x24 prints signed by Mickey Mantle (d.1995) and Ted Williams (d.2001), respectively. Each printing is limited to the total number of homers hit by each Hall of Famer, with all of the prints having the homerun number, date, opponent and park written in the hand of the respective athlete. Hence, while the prints are from runs of (#/536) and (#/521), each is unique when considering the number of inscriptions denoted. In addition to their signatures which grade (“9-10”), the Mantle inscription reads 377, May 5, ’62, Washington, Yankee Stadium, while Williams’ reads 270, 5/5/50, Chicago, Fenway Park. A truly impressive pairing only amplified by the rarely seen Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park inscriptions. COA from James Spence Authentications.
