Known best for supplying many of the portrait images for the T206 series, Carl Horner's original portraits have gained a solid foothold in the hobby and are among the most desirable images available. Presented is a wonderfully crisp image of Jimmy Sheckard, outfielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1897 through 1905. The sharp black and white portrait is mounted to a cabinet back measuring 4-5/8 x 6-1/4, while the actual portrait measures 3-1/2 x 5-1/2 and is stamped with Horner, Boston in the lower right corner. The back of the piece is off-white and relatively clean, displaying a 1996 Original Baseball Magazine Christie's hologram and the player's name in pencil, although it is mislabeled. There are two pinholes on the left-hand corners of the cabinet that do not affect the image, giving this piece the overall grade of (EX-MT).
